Letter from the President
I encourage you to begin your ArCA adventure
Greetings ArCA Members!
Please allow me to introduce myself to you as the incoming president for the 2016-17 year.
The past year was quite eventful with the breakaway of the school counseling division and all of the legislation that is coming down from various states and the federal government that can affect how we do our job as counselors. I would like to encourage you to step up in your particular division(s) and help us address the needs of all counselors across the great state of Arkansas. We have a variety of divisions for you to be a part of and broaden your involvement in your specialty area or interested areas.
ArAMCD – Arkansas Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development
ArACES – Arkansas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision
ArALBGTIC – Arkansas Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues
ArLCA – Arkansas Licensed Counselor Association
ArACAC – Arkansas Association of Child and Adolescent Counseling
ArMGEC – Arkansas Military/Government Education Counseling
July 8th we will have a “one day” Leadership Development Institute. Anyone may attend this workshop. All incoming officers for all divisions may attend for free and the non-officer registration fee is $10.00. Come learn about counseling ethics, Arkansas legislative news, and gain valuable information on how to be an effective leader now or in the future. You can earn up to 6 PD/CE hours. Lunch and snacks will be provided as well. Please visit the ArCA website – www.arcounseling.org – for registration, location and directions information.
Thank you for allowing me to take the helm for this year. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance and please consider becoming a part of the leadership team of ArCA.
And remember …….. “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
Carol Heavin, ArCA President
